What this website records
Short version: this site measures how its pages are used, it does not know who you are, and there is nothing here to sign up for.
What this website does not do
- There is no online checkout and no account. You cannot buy from this website, so it never asks for a card, an address or a password. How to shop with us explains how buying actually works here.
- There is no contact form and no mailing list. Nothing on this site collects your name, your phone number or your email address.
- We do not sell or share anything with advertisers. There are no advertising tags on this site.
- The typefaces are hosted here, not loaded from Google, so reading a page does not tell Google you visited.
The three tools that measure this site
All three are measurement tools. None of them is given your name, because the site never has it.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies and does not fingerprint visitors.
- A first-party counter run by Blue Crane Works, who build and look after this site. It records which page was open, roughly how long it was actively being read, how far down the page you scrolled, which outbound links get clicked, the site you arrived from and how wide your screen is. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- Microsoft Clarity, described below, which is the only one of the three that records a picture of the visit rather than a number.
Microsoft Clarity, and the part that matters
Clarity is a free Microsoft tool that produces heatmaps, which show where people tap and how far they read, and session replays, which reconstruct what a visit looked like: the pages, the scrolling, where the mouse or finger went. We use it to find the parts of this site that are awkward on a phone. It is the reason the shop's phone number sits on every screen.
It cannot record what you type. In Microsoft's own words: “Content in the input boxes is masked in all modes and can’t be customized. The drop-down menus are also masked in all modes.” And: “Clarity masks sensitive content on your website by default and never captures anything that is masked or sent over the wire.” That is not a setting on our side that somebody could switch off later; it is how the product works. Microsoft's own description is on the Clarity masking page, and what Microsoft does with the data is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Cookies
Checked on 21 September 2026 by loading this site in a real browser and reading back what it stored: nothing on this site set a single cookie. The two page counters never set any. Microsoft Clarity is able to use two of its own, named _clck and _clsk, to tell one visit apart from the next, and it is currently running here without them. That is why there is no cookie banner on this site: there is nothing to ask you about.
Instagram and the map load only if you ask
The Instagram videos on the home page and the map on the Visit page do not load until you press the button on them. Until you do, Instagram and OpenStreetMap are never contacted and never see that you were here. That was done to save your mobile data, and it protects your privacy as a side effect. If you do press play, you are then talking to Instagram, under their terms, not ours.
If you would rather not be measured
Any ordinary ad or tracker blocker will stop all three of these, and the site works perfectly well without them. Browsing in a private window and closing it afterwards clears the two Clarity cookies. Nothing on this site behaves differently if you do either.
Asking us about it
The shop is at 21 King St W in Dundas and the phone is (905) 627-1150. If you want to ask what is recorded, or ask for something to be removed, phone the shop or come in and say so. This site is built and maintained for Amarettos by Blue Crane Works, who can act on it.
