Shapewear

Smooth, not squeezed

Modern shapewear is about a smooth line under a dress, not a smaller number on a scale. We carry Body Hush and fit it in the shop, with the outfit it's going under.

What we carry

Body Hush is our shapewear label. The pieces we stock most: smoothing slips for under a dress, high-waist briefs that go to the bra band so there's no roll at the waist, camisoles for under a fitted top, and thigh shapers for a slim pant or a straight skirt. Light control is the norm; firm control on request.

What shapewear does, and doesn't

It smooths. It makes a dress hang the way it did on the hanger, stops a waistband from showing through, and lets you wear a knit without thinking about it. It does not change your size, and a piece bought a size too small to "do more" will roll, dig and make you miserable by dinner. The right size is the one that feels like a firm hug and that you forget about after five minutes. Our shapewear guide covers the rest.

Match the piece to the outfit

  • Dress: a slip. Full slip for a fitted dress, half slip for a skirt or a fuller dress.
  • Slim pant or straight skirt: a high-waist brief or a thigh shaper, depending on where you want the smoothing.
  • Fitted top or knit: a smoothing camisole, which also covers a bra line.
  • A specific outfit: bring it with you. Shapewear should be tried on under the actual garment, and we'd rather sort it in the fitting room than have you find out later.

Try it on with the dress

If you're buying shapewear for a specific outfit, bring the outfit. A slip that's perfect under one dress is the wrong length under another. If you've bought the dress here, we'll already know what will work. Call (905) 627-1150 to check what's in your size.
